▪  Infant Slave: (Cheapest Prices = 2 Tarsk Bits)
The most inexpensive of slaves are infants.  It is not unusual in the cities for free women to sell their infant daughters into slavery.  Some women even do it on a regular basis, as an added form of income.  Two tarsk bits is a standard price for an infant.  The price could be higher depending on the qualifications of the mother.  The women doing actually make a pittance when you consider all of their time and labor.

▪  FeMale Work Slaves: (Cheap Prices)
Inexpensive slaves are female work slaves purchased for public kitchens, laundries, mills, etc.  These are the kettle-and-mat girls, the pot girls and other such lowly slaves.

▪  Male Work Slaves: (Low Prices = No more than 1 Silver Tarsk)
The next level of slaves are the male work slaves who commonly work on cargo galleys, wharves, fields, and quarries.  They are often criminals or war captives.
Most male slaves are inexpensive and usually will not garner more than a silver Tarsk.

▪  Basic Trained Slaves: (Moderate Prices)
The next general level, the most common type of slave, are the ones who can be used as a pleasure slave.  These slaves are not all trained pleasure slaves per se but only slaves for whom part of their duty is to sexually please their owner.

▪  Male Silk Slaves: (Good Prices = 4-6 Silver Tarsks)
The next level are the male silk slaves, a rare breed on Gor. male silk slaves whom commonly sell for four to six silver Tarsks.  A silk slave is a pleasure slave for a free woman.  They usually bring higher prices than basic female pleasure slaves only due to their rarity.  Most Gorean men make poor silk slaves.

▪  Highly trained Slaves: (Expensive Prices)
The most expensive slaves though are generally special pleasure slaves, dancers, exotics and passion slaves.  These slaves are generally all highly trained.

-T H I N G S   T O   C O N S I D E R :-
-------------------------------------
"An individual slave's value increases in value over time because they become used to their slavery and therefore how to serve, pleasure, fur etc...That is why an untrained slave is worth less than a trained one."

▪  Slave Previous Caste:
Slaves who were once High Caste generally are worth more than Low Caste ones.

▪  Slave Pierced:
Pierced ears, once a mark of degradation, now also increase a girl's value.

▪  Slave Age:
If a slave is young when she is initially sold, her value may increase once her body matures into a more womanly figure.

▪  Slave Silk:
On Gor, a white silk (a virgin) is often praised higher then a Red silk (opened), surely not for her experience as pleasure slave, but more as symbolic matters. Untouched, virgin, fresh meat.....

"Cernus smiled. 'Our Physicians ascertained,' said he, 'that she is only a Red Silk Girl.'
'I scarcely supposed,' said I, 'that you would permit a White Silk girl to go alone on the streets of Ar.'
Cernus chuckled. 'Indeed not,' he said. 'The risk is too much, sometimes as much as ten gold pieces.'"
(Book 5, Assassin of Gor, page 45)

" 'But,' had said Ute, 'if a man seizes you, you are not to yield yourself to him, for you are white silk.'
A flash of irritation passed through me. 'I am charged with the protection of my market value?' I asked, ironically.
'Yes,' said Ute, matter-of-factly. 'Though I, if I were a man, would pay more for a red-silk girl.'
'I must do nothing,' I said, 'to diminish the investment of Rask of Treve?'
'That is correct,' said Ute.
'What if I am simply seized, and my attacker is not prepared to listen to reason?' I asked.
Ute laughted. It was the first time I had seen her laugh in the camp. I was pleased I had made her laugh.
'Cry out,' said Ute, 'and the others will take you from him and get him a red-silk girl.'
'All right,' I had said."
(Book 7, Captive of Gor, pages 306 - 307)

▪  Slave Training Level:
As a girl's training level and knowledge increases, her value also appreciates. Pleasure slave training and dance training are key elements in raising a girl's price.

Cernus turned to Caprus, who stood near him.
"Is she trained?" he asked.
"No," said Caprus. "She is Red Silk but she knows almost nothing."?
"Let her be fully trained," said Cernus to Caprus.
"Fully?" asked Caprus.
"Yes," said Cernus, "fully."
Assassin of Gor, pages 47 - 48

▪  Slave Auction House Fame:
The place where you purchase a girl may also affect the price.  The most expensive girls are sold at the Curulean, the most prestigious auction house in Ar.  Slaves desire greatly to be sold there because they are often guaranteed to be sold to a wealthy owner.  A slave girl is seldom sold here for less than two gold tarns.
A beautiful, High Caste woman commonly sells for thirty to fifty gold tarns while a Low Caste woman will sell for half that amount.  Based on the above mentioned Earth conversion rates, a High Caste woman might be sold for up to $1,000,000.  In other auction houses, the slaves would sell for much less.  A gold tarn in such other places might purchase a girl worthy enough for a Ubar's Pleasure Gardens.

▪  Slave With Previous Free Status:
The most expensive slave would likely be the daughter of a Ubar or even a Ubara herself. In a private sale, she might bring up to 10,000 gold tarns.  In a public sale, where her status was unknown, such a woman might only be worth a few copper tarsks, dependent on their beauty.

▪  Slave Pedigree:
Exotics also get top prices due to their rarity, special abilities or talents.  Passions slaves are one of the more common exotics and they garner high prices.  Exotics such as poison girls or women who are raised never knowing the existance of men would be very expensive commodities.

▪  Slave Auction Participants:
Auctions generally bring the highest prices for girls due to the number of bidders.  An auction brings out the competitive nature of man and can cause girls to be sold for amounts higher than they are worth.

▪  Slave Purple Booths:
Purple booths are also used to girls in private sales though generally only to important or wealthy buyers.  These booths are commonly set within the courtyard of a slaver's house or at a fair.  In each booth there will be a special slave, one of a slaver's best.  A potential buyer can examine and try out the girl in the booth and then negotiate a price with the slaver.

▪  Slave Physical Attribute:
Certain physical types also garner higher prices in areas where those physical types are a rarity.  For instance, blue-eyed, blond women are rare in the Tahari region so they are more valuable there.  Other physical types are not so much as rarer but more desired in certain regions.  for example, in Torvaldsland they prefer large breasted women so pay more for them.  In general, and in many areas of Gor, auburn hair increases the value of a Slave.

▪  Slave Upkeep Costs:
Most men cannot afford to own more than one slave at a time.  But, a slave is often a good investment.  As many slaves appreciate in value over time, a man can eventually sell his slave for a profit and either buy a more expensive slave or multiple slaves.  Once you can afford a single slave, you will likely then always be able to own a slave.  A buyer must realise that his costs are not contained to the original price of the slave.  Upkeep costs are constant such as food, clothing, equipment or whatever other items a Slave might require.  Upkeep costs can be closely monitored by the owner though, spending only what he desires.  He could obviously keep a slave naked and feed her only the cheapest foods.  He could on the other hand keep her in fine silks with a jewelled collar.  It is all a matter of personal preference.

▪  Slave Collars:
In general, slave collars were not made of precious metals and did not have expensive gems on them.  First, few could afford to do that. Second, such items are much more valuable than the slave and would leave her even more tempting to a thief.  Some would feel no compunction with killing a Slave to steal her bejewelled collar.  The few girls that possessed such items were the personal Slaves of the wealthy and those Girls did not wander around a city unaccompanied.

▪General asses rules:
One man might feel a girl is worth only a silver tarsk while someone else might see her as a gold tarn girl.  Slave preferences vary greatly.  Like all other Gorean prices, there are also a multitude of variables involved.

"In a sense a woman is worth as much or as little as someone is willing to pay for her." (Magicians of Gor, p.338)

There are dozens of references in the novels to the prices of slaves.  The prices range from a copper tarsk to many gold tarns.  A mere list of these references is not that useful due to the great variation involved in such pricing.  Luckily, an analysis of the references does indicate some general guidelines. Other girls may be sold for set prices at a slaver's house.

"The third woman cried out with anger, shaking her shackles. She was well curved, and diet and exercise could much improve her. I thought she might bring as much as sixty copper tarsks in a market. If that were so, and the inn sold her for that much, they would have made then, as I recalled, some twenty-five copper tarsks on her."
(Renegades of Gor  pg(s) 42-43)

"Too, Miles of Argentum had speculated that I might bring as much as even a silver tarsk in a market. Was it then because I was free? Were Gorean men spoiled for free women by those collared, curvaceous little sluts they had crawling about their feet, desperately eager to please them?"
(Kajira of Gor  pg(s) 114)

"The general class of slave will affect one's price."
(Fighting Slave of Gor. p.163-165)
gives some useful guidelines in this area.

"I scarcely supposed," said I, "that you would permit a White Silk girl to go alone on the streets of Ar"
Cernus chuckled. "Indeed not," he said. "The risk is too much, sometimes as much as ten gold pieces."
(Assassin of Gor  pg(s) 45)

Elizabeth regarded the free woman. “Well,” she said, “you are rather beautiful, aren’t you?”
The free woman stopped wailing. “Do you think so?” she asked.
“Twenty gold pieces, I’d say,” appraised Elizabeth.
“I’d give twenty-three,” said one of the men watching, the same fellow whom Elizabeth had slapped.
In fury the free woman turned about and slapped him again, it not being his day in Ko-ro-ba.
“What do you think?” asked Elizabeth of the cringing slave girl.
“Oh, I would not know,” she said, “I am only a poor girl of Tyros.”
“That is your misfortune,” said Elizabeth. “What is your name?”
“Rena,” said she, “if it pleases Mistress.”
“It will do,” said Elizabeth. “Now what do you think?”
    “Rena?” asked the girl.
“Yes,” snapped Elizabeth. “Perhaps you are a dull-witted slave?”
The girl smiled. “I would say twenty-five gold pieces,” she said.
Elizabeth, with the others, inspected the free girl. “Yes,” said Elizabeth, “Rena, I think you’re right.” Then she looked at the free girl. “What is your name, Wench?” she demanded.
The girl blushed. “Relia,” she said. Then she looked at the slave girl. “Do you really think I would bring so high a price Relia?”
(Assassin of Gor  pg(s) 73-7)

"Kneel to the whip," he said. I obeyed. I put my head down, and, beneath my body, crossed my wrists, as though they were bound. My back was bowed, ready for whatever punishment he might see fit to administer to me. I was in consternation. I trembled. Could I be still a slave girl? Could he be serious? Was it his intention to keep me still as a slave?
    Surely not. Surely not!
“I would not wish you to take a loss on her," he was saying to the auctioneer. "Here is something which may cover the cost of the miserable little slave."
I heard a pouch, heavy, filled with metal, strike heavily on the smoothed beams of the surface of the block.
"The gratitude of the house, Master!" cried the auctioneer. He untied the strings of the pouch and, crying out with pleasure, spilled coins of gold to the woods. Swiftly he sorted the coins, expertly. "There are a hundred tarn disks of gold here!" he cried.
    The crowd roared its approval."
(Slave Girl of Gor  pg(s) 435-438)

"Slavery, for example, marvelously, subtly, tends to bring out the beauty in a woman. Many women, after a year or two in bondage, become so beautiful that they can double or triple their price." (Players of Gor, p.23)

▪  Slave Rental:
"To rent a slave for a quarter Ah in Ar costs one copper."
(Assassin of Gor, p.156)

"I gestured to the two girls with the free woman. One of them slightly lowered her veil.
“I will pay well for the use of one of these slaves,” I said to the free woman.
“They are my personal slaves,” she said.
“I will give a silver tarsk for the brief use of one, either that you might indicate,” I said.
The warriors looked at one another. The offer was quite generous. It was unlikely that either of the girls would bring so much on the block."
(Beasts of Gor  pg(s) 114-115)

▪  Slave Boarding:
"To board a slave costs a copper tarsk a day and training would cost extra."
(Tribesman of Gor, p.53)

▪  Slave Manuals:
"These books on the feeding, care and training of slaves are relatively inexpensive."
(Maurauders of Gor, p.144)

▪  Branding:
"It costs a copper tarsk to brand a slave."
(Explorers of Gor, p.74)
"A Metal Worker was given a silver tarsk for two brands and to saw off a metal collar.  He was very pleased with the payment." (Beasts of Gor, p.137)

▪  Slave Locker:
"It costs a tarsk bit to use a slave locker.  You put your coin into a machine and receive a key to the locker.  You can then leave your slave girl here and lock it."
(Magicians of Gor, p.67)

▪  Bath Girl:
"The cost for a bath girl with vary depending on the quality of the bath and the quality of the bath girl.  The cost generally ranges from a copper to silver tarsk for their use."
(Assassin of Gor, p.160-1)

"I cost one tarsk. Nela was an expensive girl, thought there were pools where the girls cost as much as a silver tarn disk. The tarsk is a silver coin, worth forty copper tarn disks. All the girls in the Pool of Blue Flowers cost the same, except novices in training who would go for ten or fifteen copper tarn disks. There were dozens of pools in the vast, spreading Capacian Baths. In some of the larger pools the girls went as cheaply as one copper tarn disk. For the fee one was entitled to use the girl as he wished for as long as he wished, his use of course, limited by the hours of the pool’s closing."
(Assassin of Gor  pg(s) 158-166)

▪  Brothel:
"The prices of brothels depends on the quality of the place.  There are cheap tarsk bit places but also very expensive brothels.  A common price would be a copper tarsk, the same amount you would pay at a paga tavern."
(Mercenaries of Gor, p.312)

"I rose to my feet and placed two copper tarsks on the table. I went to the girl and, with the side of my foot, kicked her, "Get to the alcove," I told her."
(Rogue of Gor  pg(s) 13)

▪  Camp Slaves (likely be a Copper Tarsk or less):
"These are girls owned by merchants who hold contracts to supply girls to soldiers.  They rent the girls to the soldiers for a fixed fee, usually a very nominal amount."
(Kajira of Gor, p.193)

▪  Coin Girl:
"These slaves go out into the streets at neck seeking to earn money for their use, generally only a tarsk bit.  The money is placed into a small locked box.  Satisfaction is guaranteed or you can get your money back from the girl's owner."
(Rogue of Gor, p.89-90, 234-5)

The slave goad was an invention developed jointly by the Physician and Builder Castes.  The Physician's Caste contributed their knowledge of the pain fibers of humans, the networks of nerve endings.  The Builder's Caste contributed the principles and techniques that were first developed for energy bulbs.  The slave goad is similar to the tarn goad but it has been modified to use on humans.  It has a switch and a dial.  The dial adjusts the intensity from unpleasant to instantly lethal.  When it strikes a person, it emits a shower of yellow sparks.  When the dial is at the lethal setting, the tip glows very hot and is even difficult to look at.  Because it is very expensive, it is almost never used except by professional Slavers and is unknown in many cities.

"I am Sura," she said. "I will train you. In the hours of training you are my slaves. You will do what I wish. You will work. You will work and you will learn. You will be pleasing. I will teach you. You will work and you will learn."
Then she looked at them. "Fear me," she said. Flaminius translated this, as well.
Then without speaking she flicked on the slave goad and rotated the dial. The tip began to glow brightly. Then suddenly she struck at the three kneeling girls. The charge must have been high, judging by the intense shower of fiery yellow needles of light and the screams of pain from the three girls. Again and again Sura struck and the girls, half stunned, half crazed with pain, seemed unable to even move, but could only scream and cry. Even Elizabeth, whom I knew was swift and spirited, seemed paralyzed and tortured by the goad. Then Sura dialed the goad down, and turned it off. The three girls lying in pain on the stones looked up at her in fear, even the proud Elizabeth, their bodies trembling, their eyes wide. I read in their eyes, even those of Elizabeth, a sudden terror of the goad.
"Fear me," said Sura softly Flaminius translated. Then Sura turned to Flaminius. "Have them sent to my training room at the sixth Ahn," she said, and turned, and walked away, the slave bells flashing on her ankle.
Assassin of Gor

It was, like the tarn goad, developed jointly by the Caste of Physicians and that of the Builders, the Physicians contributing knowledge of the pain fibers of human beings, the networks of nerve endings, and the Builders contributing certain principles and techniques developed in the construction and manufacture of energy bulbs. Unlike the tarn goad which has a simple on-off switch in the handle, the slave goad works with both a switch and a dial, and the intensity of the charge administered can be varied from an infliction which is only distinctly unpleasant to one which is instantly lethal. The slave goad, unknown in most Gorean cities, is almost never used except by professional slavers, probably because of the great expense involved; the tarn goad, by contrast, is a simple instrument. Both goads, interestingly, emit a shower of yellow sparks when touched to an object, a phenomenon which, associated with the pain involved will convince anyone to behave.

'A tarn-goad,' he replied.  He snapped the switch in the barrel to the 'on' position and struck the table.  It
showered sparks in a sudden cascade of yellow light, but left the table unmarked.  He turned off the goad
and extended it to me.  As I reached for it, he snapped it on and slapped it in my palm.  A billion tiny
yellow stars, like pieces of fiery needles, seemed to explode in my hand.  I cried out in shock.  I thrust my
hand to my mouth.  It had been like a sudden, severe electric charge, like the striking of a snake in my
hand.  I examined myhand; it was unhurt.  'Be careful of a tarn-goad,' said the Older Tarl.  'It is not for
children.'  I took it from him, this time being careful to take it near the leather loop, which I fastened
around my wrist.

Greetings Dear Gorean,

I will today try to present a few aspects of Gorean Governance with quotes serie, hoping it will help some of you to understand better how politic and governing work in GOR.

I. The City State

'The city-state,' said my father, speaking to me late one afternoon, 'is the basic political division on Gor - hostile cities controlling what territory they can in their environs, surrounded by a no-man's land of open ground on every side.'
'How is leadership decided in these cities?' I asked.
'Rulers,' he said, 'are chosen from any High Caste.'

Tarnsman of Gor

II. Elected Officials

  • High Castes elect representatives from their caste to the High Council of the city.
  • These council members are elected for stated terms - see following quote:

'We are going to the Chamber of the Council,' he said.
I followed him.
The Chamber of the Council is the room in which the elected representatives of the High Castes of Ko-ro-ba hold their meetings. Each city has such a chamber.

Tarnsman of Gor

  • The High Castes elect an Administrator also for stated terms
  • In times of crisis, a Ubar is name

'The High Castes in a given city,' said my father, 'elect an administrator and council for stated terms. In times of crisis, a war chief, or Ubar, is named, who rules without check and by decree until, in his judgement, the crisis is passed.'

Tarnsman of Gor

  • Most Gorean cities are governed by an Administrator in conjunction with the high council

In many cities only members of the high castes may belong to the city's high council. Most Gorean cities are governed by an executive, the Administrator, in conjunction with the high council.

Slave Girl of Gor

  • It is only the men of high caste who elect members to the Council

Whereas it is only the men of high caste who elect members to the Council of the City, the gold of merchants and the will of the general populace is seldom disregarded in their choices. Accordingly, Kazrak of Port Kar, for years Administrator of Ar, was by vote deposed and banished from the city, being publicly denied salt, bread and fire, as had been Marlenus, long years before him, once Ubar of Ar.

Assassins of Gor

III. Activities of the High Council

  • Meetings in the Chamber of the Council

'We are going to the Chamber of the Council,' he said.
I followed him.
The Chamber of the Council is the room in which the elected representatives of the High Castes of Ko-ro-ba hold their meetings. Each city has such a chamber. It was in the widest of cylinders, and the ceiling was at least six times the height of the normal living level. The ceiling was lit as if by stars, and the walls were of five colors, applied laterally, beginning from the bottom - white, blue, yellow, green, and red, caste colours. Benches of stone, on which the members of the Council sat, rose in five monumental tiers about the walls, one tier for each of the High Castes. These tiers shared the color of that portion of the wall behind them, the caste colors.
The tier nearest the floor, which denoted some preferential status, the white tier, was occupied by Initiates, Interpreters of the Will of Priest-Kings. In order, the ascending tiers, blue, yellow, green, and red, were occupied by representatives of the Scribes, Builders, Physicians, and Warriors.

Tarnsman of Gor

  • Approving admittance to caste

'Then,' said my father, placing his hands solemnly on my shoulders, 'in virtue of my authority as Administrator of this city and in the presence of the Council of High Castes, I declare you to be a Warrior of Ko-ro-ba.'

Tarnsman of Gor

  • Approving petitions to raise caste

Further, because of his services to the state, including the sponsorship of games and races, Cernus was, upon the petition of Saphronicus, Captain of the Taurentians, invested in the scarlet of the Warrior, thus honoring him with High Caste. He did not, of course, give up the House of Cernus nor any other of his widely ranging interests in Ar and beyond it. I do not suppose the Hinrabian Administrator much cared to approve this raising of caste in the case of Cernus, but he lacked the courage to go against the wishes of the Taurentians, and of the city generally. The High Council, with scarcely a murmur, agreed to the investiture.

Assassin of Gor

  • Handling petitions from the High Councils of various castes

The Cylinder of Initiates demanded that the High Council of the Caste of Physicians put an end to our work, not only that it be discontinued but that our results to that date be destroyed. The Physicians, I am pleased to say, stood with us. There is little love lost between Physicians and Initiates, even as is the case between Scribes and Initiates. The Cylinder of the High Initiate then petitioned the High Council of the City to stop our work, but they, on the recommendation of Marlenus, who was then Ubar, permitted our work to continue." Flaminius laughed.

Assassin of Gor

  • Imposing import duties on goods

It was a Ta wine, from the Ta grapes of the terraces of Cos. Such a small thing, in its way, bespoke the intimacy of the trade relations between Vonda and Cos. In the last year heavy import duties had been levied by the high council of Vonda against the wines of certain other cities, in particular against the Ka-la-nas of Ar.
I handed back the flask to Kenneth.

Fighting Slave of Gor

  • Sponsoring games and races, albeit with the money of wealthy backers

Further, games and races which he had sponsored in the name of the Hinrabians now ceased, and those they had jointly sponsored ceased to bear the name of the Administrator. The name of Cernus, as patron and benefactor, was now what appeared on the placards and the boards of announcements. Then, interestingly, minor omens, recorded by the High Initiate, and others, began to turn against the Hinrabian dynasty. Two members of the High Council, who had spoken out against the influence of Merchants in the politics of Ar, presumably a veiled reference to Cernus, were found slain, one cut down by killing knife and another throttled and found dangling from a bridge near his home.

Assassin of Gor

  • Support and influence of the High Council can sometimes be bought

"There is a house greater than mine, or any on the Street of Brands," said he.
"You fear this house?" asked Kuurus.
"Those of this house stand near the Administrator, and the High Initiate," said Portus.
"What do you mean?" asked Kuurus.
"The gold of this house is heavy in the councils of the city."
"The Administrator and the High Initiate," asked Kuurus, "owe their thrones to the gold of this house?"
Portus laughed bitterly. "Without the gold of this house, how could the Administrator and the High Initiate have sponsored the races and the games that won them the favor of the lower castes?"
"But the lower castes do not elect the Administrator or the High Initiate," said Kuurus. "The Administrator is appointed by the High Council of the City and the High initiate by the High Council of the Initiates of the City."
"These councils," said Portus scornfully, "know well the way the lower castes yelp in the tiers." He snorted. "And there are many in the High Councils of the city who, if forced to decide between the steel of the hook knife and the feel of gold in their pouch, will choose gold to steel." Portus winked at Kuurus. "There is only gold and steel," he said.

Assassins of Gor

IV. High Council of Leagues

  • Similarly, the cities and towns that united as the Vosk League elected a High Council

"I have an announcement to make," said Tasdron, "for which I have waited until now." We regarded him. The slaves knelt. A free man was speaking. "The forces of the Vosk League are soon to be organized," said Tasdron. "It is my honor and pleasure to inform you that one among us has agreed to act as the commander of these forces. He is, of course, Callimachus, of Port Cos!"
"Congratulations!" I cried to Callimachus, shaking his hand. There was Gorean applause.
"The appointment was made earlier this afternoon, in a secret session of the High Council of the Vosk League," said Tasdron, "that body sovereign in the league, composed of representatives drawn from all the member towns." Tasdron smiled at me. "This time and place," he said, "seemed appropriate for making the first public announcement of the appointment."

Guardsman of Gor

  • The cities united as the Salerian League elected an Administrator

The oaths of the league, and the primitive articles pertaining to its first governance, were sworn, and signed, in the meadow of Salerius, which lies on the northern bank of the Olni between Port Olni and Vonda. It is from that fact that the confederation is known as the Salerian Confederation. The principal city, because the largest and most populous, of the confederation is Ti. The governance of the confederation is centralized in Ti. The high administrator of the confederation is a man called Ebullius Gaius Cassius, of the Warriors. Ebullius Gaius Cassius was also, as might be expected, the administrator of the city, or state, of Ti itself. The Salerian Confederation, incidentally, is also sometimes known as the Four Cities of Saleria. The expression `Saleria', doubtless owing its origin to the meadow of Salerius, is used broadly, incidentally, to refer to the fertile basin territories both north and south of the Olni, the lands over which the confederation professes to maintain a hegemony. The meadow of Salerius, thus, lies on the northern bank of the Olni, between Port Olni and Vonda; the area called Saleria, on the other hand, is, in effect, the lands controlled by the confederation. Ti, Port Olni and Vonda lie on the northern bank of the Olni; Lara lies between the Olni and the Vosk, at their confluence. It is regarded as being of great strategic importance. It could, if it wished, prevent Olni shipping from reaching the markets of the Vosk towns, and, similarly, if it wished, prevent shipping from these same towns from reaching the Olni markets. Overland shipping in this area, as is generally the case on Gor, is time consuming and costly; also, it is often dangerous. It is interesting to note that the control of piracy on the Olni was largely a function of the incorporation of Lara in the confederation. This made it difficult for the pirate fleets, following their raids, to descend the Olni and escape into the Vosk. It may also be of interest to note that what began as a defensive league instituted primarily to protect shipping on a river gradually, but expectedly, began to evolve into a considerable political force in eastern known Gor. Jealousies and strifes, rivalries, even armed conflicts, tend often to separate Gorean cities. Seldom do they band together. In this milieu, then, of suspicion, pride, autonomy and honor, the four cities of Saleria represented a startling and momentous anomaly in the politics of Gor. The league to protect shipping on the Olni, inadvertently but naturally founded in the common interest of four cities, had formed the basis for what later became the formidable Salerian Confederation. Many cities of Gor, it was rumored, looked now with uneasiness on the four giants of the Olni. The Salerian Confederation, it was rumored, had now come to the attention even of the city of Ar.

Hope this will be of some help in your Roleplay and the way you will manage politic and governance.

How beautifull it can be to look a Dancer of Gor, it is a true Art where Body, Heart and Soul are fully offered to the spectator.

Here i will simply relay a Dance which is to express the "Need" of a Slave female.

I turned away and gave my attention to the slave writhing on the tiles before us. She was performing a need dance, of a type not uncommon among Gorean female slaves. Such a dance usually proceeds in clearly defined phrases, evident not merely in the expressions and movements of the girl but in the nature of the accompanying music.

There are usually five phases to such a dance. In the first phase the girl, dancing, feigns indifference to the presence of men, before whom, as a slave, she must perform. In the second phase, for she has not yet been raped, her distress and uneasiness, her restlessness, her disturbance by her sexual urges, must become subtly more manifest.

Here it must be evident that she is beginning to feel her sexuality, and drives, profoundly, and yet is struggling against them. Toward the end of this phase it must become clear not only that she has sexual needs, and deep ones, but that she is beginning to fear that she may not be, simply as she is, of sufficient interest to men to obtain their satisfaction. Here, need, coupled with anxiety and self-doubt, for she has not yet been seized by strong men, must become clear.

In the third phase of the dance she, in an almost ladylike fashion, acknowledges herself defeated in her attempt to conceal her sexuality; she then, again in an almost ladylike fashion, delicately but clearly, with restraint but unmistakably, acknowledges, and publicly, before masters, that she has sexual needs.

Then, with smiles, and gestures, displaying herself, she makes manifest her readiness for the service of men, her willingness, and her receptivity. She invited them, so to speak to have her. But she has not yet been seized by an arm or an ankle, or by her collar, a thumb hooked rudely under it, or hair, and pulled from the floor. What if she is not sufficiently pleasing? What if she is not to be fulfilled? What if she must continue to dance, alone, unnoticed. At this point it becomes clear to her that it is by no means a foregone conclusion that men will find her of interest, or that they will see fit to satisy her. She must strive to be pleasing.

If she is not good enough she may be chained, unfulfilled, another night alone in the kennel. There are always other girls. She must earn her rape. Too, if she should be insufficiently pleasing consistently it is likely that she will be slain. Goreans place few impediments in the way of liberation of a slave female's sexuality.

In this phase of the dance, then, shamelessly the woman dances her need and, shamelessly, begs for her sexual satisfaction. The phase of the dance is sometimes known as the Heat of the Collared She-Sleen.

The fifth, and final phase, of the dance, is far more dramatic and exciting. In this phase the girl, overcome by sexual desire and terrified that she may not be found sufficiently pleasing, clearly manifests, and utterly, that she is a slave female. In this portion of the dance the girl is seldom on her feet. Rather, sitting, rolling, and changing position, on her side, her back, her belly, half kneeling, half sitting, kneeling, crawling, reaching out, bending backwards, lying down, twisting with passion, gesturing to her body, presenting it to masters for their inspection and interest, whimpering, moaning, crying out, brazenly presenting herself as a slave, pleading for her rape, she writhes, a piteous, begging, vulnerable, ready slave, a woman fit for and begging for the touch of a master, a woman begging to become, at the least touch of her master, a totally submitted slave.

The fourth phase of the dance, as I have mentioned, is sometimes known as the Heat of the Collared She-Sleen. This portion of the dance, the fifth portion, is sometimes known as the Heat of the Slave Girl.

The music ended with a swirl of sound and the girl, with a jangle of bells, lay before the table of Policrates, whimpering, her hand extended. She lifted her head. I read the unmistakable need in her eyes. She was indeed a slave female.

"Bara, Kajira!" he said. She rolled quickly to her stomach, placing her wrists behind her, crossed, and crossing her ankles, ready to be bound.
Explorers of Gor p77

The word Bara, in Gorean, means "belly". The command 'Bara' however, is used specifically to describe a position used for binding. The slave moves to her belly, face down and turned to the left, she crosses her wrists  behind her back, outstretching her legs and crossing her ankles as well.

"Bara, said Mincon to Tula. Bara, said I to Feiqa. Both slaves went immediately to their bellies, their heads to the left, their wrists crossed behind their backs, their ankles also crossed. It is a common binding position."
---Mercenaries of Gor, p 145

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*BELLY *(sur le ventre)

L’esclave s’allonge sur le ventre, la paume des mains vers le bas, à côté de sa tête, le front sur le sol et attend pour d’autres ordres.

"Stop," he said. "To your belly."
Then I was on my belly, on the tiles, my hands at the sides of my head, prone, before his curule chair.
Kajira of Gor p427

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*BLANKET* (couverture)

I then threw the second blanket, the top blanket over her, covering her completely. When a blanket, or cloak, or covering of any sort, is thrown over a slave like this she may not speak or rise. She must remain as she is, silent, until the master , or some free man, lifts the covering away."
Explorers of Gor p94

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*BOW *(Arc)

FR: position consistant a se pencher vers l'arrière pour former une pose d'arche.

'Exposing the bow of a girl's beauty, is habitually done on slave blocks, where the auctioneer, a hand firmly grasped into the girl's hair, will hold her head back and force her into an arched position. In the course of a dance too, frequently the girl will use the bow to display herself, especially if she performs a dance in which she may not rise to her feet.

... her head then touched the furs, her body a cruel, helpless bow.
---Assassin of Gor, p 185

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*BRACELETS*

FR: Dans cette position de bondage standard la fille se tourne pour faire face au Maître, dos et épaules droites, poignets maintenus dans le bas du dos et pour la tranquilité, attachés par des menottes de soumission.

"Bracelets," he snapped. She put her head in the air and placed her hands behind her back.
Hunters of Gor p146

This again is for the purpose of securing the slave.  The command indicates to the slave that she is to be placed in slave bracelets. From standing or kneeling, she will pull her arms behind her and turn her face to the left, tipping her chin up.

The girl snapped to position, hands behind the small of her back, head lifted, chin up, turned to the left.  In such a posture she may be conveniently put in bracelets and leashed
---Tribesmen of Gor, p 78

He had removed a pair of light bracelets, joined by about five inches of light chain, from his pouch. "Slave bracelets," he said. "Turn around, facing the door, your hands behind your back.
---Kajira of Gor, p 132

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*BRAND*

FR:cette commande est indiqué pour que l'esclave montre la marque d'esclave qu'elle porte en general sur le haut de sa cuisse interieur gauche

The command is given to indicate that the slave must reveal her brand. More commonly, the left thigh will be move forth and the leg slightly turned to allow viewing of the branding site.

*CAPTURE POSITION* (Supine Capture Position)

The position indicates a woman in under capture rights.

FR: L’esclave s’allonge sur le dos sur le sol, pliant les genoux pour mettre les pieds à plat sur le sol, les mains à ses côtés, et reste immobile.

"On your back," he said, "knees raised, heels on the floor." I then lay before him, in a standard, supine capture position.
Kajira of Gor p422

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*COLLAR *(Collier)

FR: Cette commande sera souvent demander lorsqu'un Maitre ou un Maitresse désire voir le collier de l'esclave. La fille s'approche alors, les mains dans le dos and penche sa tete sur le coté pour présenter son collier.

The command is given in order that the slave's collar be read. It indicates that the slave is to approach, move her hands behind her and lift her chin to allow easy access to the collar.

In response to the "collar command," the slave approaches the male, that he need not inconvenience himself by coming toward her. She then lifts her chin and places her hands behind her. It is thus that a girl renders herself vulnerable for the reading of her collar.

... Still he put his finger under her collar, and, as she gasped, he pulled her even closer to him, indeed, quite close to him, "slave close," as the expression is. She could not move back, because of his hold on her.
---Witness of Gor

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*CRAWL* (ramper)

The name rather seems self explanatory.  The girl on her belly, head down, crawls to her master's feet, as is done with the performance of obeisance, or to any place she has been instructed to. This is also used on the command to -crawl to the furs-.

I pointed to the stones at my feet.  Crawl I said, in Gorean. The girl slipped to her belly, and, as a slave girl, crawled to my feet. She put her lips to my foot; I felt her hair over it.
---Tribesmen of, p 78

Crawling - the knee crawl ...
Again a fairly simple extension of the crawling command, where the girl is expected to walk on her knees. The movement is described as 'similar' to a dance move known as the Turian knee walk.

I indicated a flat leather box to one side. "Knee crawl," I said. "Fetch it here."

She went to the box on her knees and picked it up, and returned to a place before me. It had been a simple knee crawl. I was briefly reminded, however, of the Turian knee walk, sometimes used by slave dancers. I considered the slave. I did not doubt but what she might be taught to dance.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*DISPLAY POSITION* (position d’exposition)

FR: Debout, les pieds tout comme les épaules écartés, les doigts croisés derrière la nuque avec les coudes en arrière, la tête relevée et les yeux baissés.

The auctioneer did not strike her with his whip. He merely took her arms and lifted them, so that the position chain, attached to each side of the sales collar lay across her her upper arms. Then he had her clasp her hands behind the back of her neck, so that the chain, on each side of the collar, was in the crook of her arms, and she was exposed in such a way that she could be properly exhibited.
Explorers of Gor p36

Many of the positions a slave will be told to assume or even placed in, serve the purpose of display. Whether it is for the purpose of identifying her, verifying the presence of a brand or the inscription on the collar, sale on the block, or simply a matter of 'showing off', the Gorean man enjoys displaying that which he owns, as well as examining females in general. The slave girl understands rather quickly, that this 'scrutiny' is quite normal, and indeed, learns to revel in it. It is under the eye of the Gorean man, that the girl becomes beautiful in all that she does, understanding that she is desirable to own, or striving to be.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*NADU*

Come now, my pretty slaves,' said Ginger, "kneel straight. Back straight, heads up. Back on your heels there! Spread those pretty knees. Yes, that is the way men like it. Put your hands, palms down, on your thighs. Good. good. Excellent!"   The girls now knelt in the coffle as pleasure slaves.
Savages of Gor p155

"Nadu!" he snapped. She swiftly turned, facing him, and dropped to her knees. She knelt back on her heels, her back straight, her hands on her thighs, her head up, her knees wide. It was the position of the pleasure slave.
Explorers of Gor p77

... Over her iron collar she wore a heavy leather Kur collar, high, heavily sewn, with its large ring.  He thrust her two wrists before her body, into the ring he had cut from the Kur. He then tied them inside, and to, the ring. He then, from his belt, tool a long length of binding fiber and, doubling it, keeing it, securing it, as its center to the ring, leaving two long ends.  He then threw her, on her back, over the body, bead down, of the fallen Kur. He took the two loose ends of the binding fiber and, taking them under the body of the fallen Kur, dragged her wrists, elbows bent, over and above her head; he then, bending her knees, tied one of the loose ends about her left ankle, and the other about her right. This was the Gorean Love Bow.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*HEEL *(talon)

FR: L’esclave se place à la gauche du Maître si celui-ci est droitier, et à sa droite s’il est gaucher, à à peu près un pas et demi derrière lui. Elle suit ensuite ses mouvements.

The Forkbeard turned about and, one arm about Pudding, the other about Gunnhild, started from the dock. Hilda followed him, to his left. "She heels nicely," said Ottar. The men and bond_maids laughed. The Forkbeard stopped. Hilda's face burned red with fury, but she kept her head high. Pet sleen are taught to heel; so, too, sometimes, are bond_maids; I was familiar with this sort of thing, of course; in the south it was quite common for slave girls; in various fashions in various cities, to heel their masters. Hilda, of course, was a free woman. For her to heel was an incredible humiliation. The Forkbeard started off again, and then again stopped. Again, Hilda followed him as before. "She is heeling!" laughed Ottar.
Marauders of Gor p123

These things vary, I learned from city to city, and depend, also, on such matters as context and conditions. In a market, in the crowding and jostling for instance, a girl may follow so closely she pressed against the back of his left shoulder. Girls seldom follow behind and on the right. If she is thusly placed it is commonly a sign she is in disfavor. If more than one girl is involved, she who follows most closely on the left is generally taken to be in highest favor; girls compete for this position. In an open area, such a the fields in which we trekked, the girl is placed some five or ten feet behind, and on the left. If he must move suddenly she will not, thusly, constitute an impediment to his action.
Slave Girl of Gor p30

A slave girl, in heeling her master, commonly follows on the left. That she follows indicates that she is subservient, that he is master and she slave; that she follows on the left is a cultural matter probably indexed to the fact that most Goreans are right-handed. Her presence on the left, thus, is not likely to interfere with his draw or the movements of his sword arm.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*HIGH_HARNESS *(grand harnais)

FR: C’est une position utilisée le plus souvent avec les esclaves d’exposition. L’esclave maintient la tête très élevée, pour exposer son cou.

The command indicates to the slave that the Master issuing it wants the girl to expose her throat to him, lifting her head as high as it can possibly lift up.

"Lift your head, " he said. "Higher. Higher!" She looked up at him, her head far back, the leash on her throat.... "You need not now keep your head in high_harness position,", he said to the girl. She moved her head.

*SUBMISSION* (soumission)

"Assume the posture of female submission," I told her. She did so, kneeling back on her heels, her arms extended, wrists crossed, her head between them, down. She was weeping.
Tribesmen of Gor p359

"She is yours," he said. He took his strap off her throat, and unbound her hands. "Submit," I told her. She knelt before me, back on her heels, arms extended, head down, between her arms, wrists crossed, as though for binding.
Explorers of Gor p74

Kneel (nadu) back on heels, arms extended overhead, wrists crossed as if for binding, head down, the woman expresses surrender and submits herself.

He took his strap off her throat, and unbound her hands. Submit,  I told her. She knelt before me, back on her heels, arms extended, head down, between her arms, wrists crossed, as though for binding.  I submit to you, Master, she said. I tied her hands together; she then lowered her bound wrists; I pulled up her head. I held before her an opened collar, withdrawn from my sea bag. I had had one prepared.
---Explorers of Gor, p 74

She winced, her back bent painfully. "Do you wish me to submit to you now?" she begged. "Do so," said he. She fell to her knees before him, and lifted her head to regard him. "I will be your slave," she said. Then, she knelt back on her heels, lowered her head, and lifted and extended her arms, wrists crossed, as though for binding. She was very beautiful. "I am your slave," she said, "--Master."

*KNEEL*

FR: La premiere commande que toute esclave apprend, Tres simple, le mot kneel signifie, s'agenouiller, selon son éducation et son statut (white ou red silk) la fille s'agenouillera en position Nadu ou Tower.

The first command any slave girl learns. Quite simply, the word is the Gorean term for "kneel". When the command is issued, the girl will kneel according to her training. For the pleasure slave, trained and accredited by a slaver house, or simply expected to serve as one, 'nadu' or kneeling, is often stated simply as 'keeling in the position of a pleasure slave'.

There are a large number of various slave positions, which can differ from city to city. The common position is kneeling, back on the heels, back straight, head up, hands on the thighs. The tower slave, or domestic slave, is permitted to kneel with her knees closed. The pleasure slave adopts a similar position, but with her knees open.
---John Norman, Letter to the Gorean Group, Sept 20th 2000

The command to kneel is also one that can be issued silently, by the snapping of fingers and pointing to one's feet.

He suddenly snapped His fingers and, in the swift double gesture of a Gorean Master, pointed to a place on the dirt floor before Him, almost simultaneously turning His hand, spreading His first and index finger, pointing downwards. I fled to Him and knelt before Him, my knees in the dirt, in the position of the pleasure slave, my head down, trembling.
---Captive of Gor, p 143

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*KNEEL TO THE COFFLE*

"Kneel to be coffled," said one of the men. The girls knelt, closely, one behind the other, there were six wrist rings on the chain he carried. He placed the girl who had been whipped by Lady Sabina first in the coffle line. "Left wrist coffle," he said. They lifted their left wrists, frightened. Interestingly, the man snapping the wrist rings on the girls? left wrists did not put the first girl in the first ring, but the second. When the four maids were coffled there was, thus, an empty wrist ring both at the head and rear of the line. "Stand, Slaves," said the man. "Lower chain." The girls stood. Then, ordered, the lowered their wrists. They were then in line, standing, coffled.
Slave Gor of Gor p127

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*LEADING* ( to lead  = mener, ouvrir la route)

In a moment I had left the building, pulling the captive behind me, her head down at my waist, in leading position.
Mercenaries of Gor pgs399_400

At her master's left, standing behind him slightly, bend at the waist, hands at the back, head at his hip so that he may easily lead the girl by the hair while walking. The command for a girl to place herself in leading position may be verbally expressed, or indicated silently, by the placing of the left hand, opened, at the waist.

I held my left hand open, at my waist. She stiffened, and looked at me, angrily. I opened and closed my left hand once. I saw her training in Gorean customs had been thorough. But she never thought that such a gesture would be used to her. She came beside me, and a bit behind me, and, crouching, put her head down, deeply. I fastened my hand in her hair. She winced. Women are helpless in this position.
---Beasts of Gor, p 409

'Leading position', he said. Sobbing, she rose to her feet, and put her head down, at what would be the height of a man's waist, her legs flexed. A guard walked over and fastened his hand in her hair.
---Rogue of Gor, p 248

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*LESHA*

The word 'lesha' drives from the word leash.  The girl turns her head to the left, chin lifted, wrists behind as if for binding.  Basically, leasha is to be assumed from whatever position a girl is in.

"Lesha," snapped the second officer to the blond girl. She spun from facing him, and lifted her chin, turning her head to the left, placing her wrists behind her, as though for snapping them into slave bracelets.
Explorers of Gor p76

A gorean saying has it that a leashed slave is a hot slave.
---Fighting Slave of Gor, p 366

*SHE QUADRUPED*  (à quatre pattes)

Under this discipline, the slave is not to use her hands until the master commands her to break position. She will perform all of her regular duties on hands and knees **without** the use of hands like an animal. She may not rise to her feet nor speak. Her mouth and teeth will be used to manipulate objects. This is usually used for punishment although some "Masters" will use it strictly for entertainment of themselves.

In this form of slavery, which is commonly used for disciplinary purposes, or for the amusement of the Master, the woman is not permitted to arise from all fours; similarly she is not permitted human speech, though she may signify needs and desires by such means as cringing, and moaning and whimpering. Not permitted the use of her hands, save as a means of locomotion, she must also eat and drink from pans set on the floor, or, sometimes to satisfy her thirst, she must lap the water permitted to her from puddles or lick pillages from the tiles; too, it is no uncommon to chain her near her master's feet, while he dines, that he may, if he wishes, throw her scraps of food. She will also be taught tricks, through which paces she may be put for the entertainment of her master's guests, such things as begging, lying down, rolling over, and fetching his sandals in her teeth. And, needless to say, when her master wishes to use her sexually, it will be a position common to the she_quadruped.
Guardsman of Gor p225

Assuming the modality of the she-quadruped. In this discipline the female is forbidden human speech. She is also forbidden human posture, in the sense that she is not allowed to rise to her feet. Her locomotion, unless commanded to roll, or put under similar commands, suitable for a pet, will be on all fours. Her food will be thrown to her, or put in pans on the ground. In either case, she must feed without the use of her hands. She may also, of course, be fed by hand, but, again, will not be permitted to touch the food with her hands. She may be taught tricks. Sometimes these are taught as functions of arbitrary sounds, so that she must learn them as any animal might, without the benefit of an earlier understanding of the word used. If she is slow to learn, of course, she is punished, as would be any other animal. When used, too, it will commonly be in the modality of the she-quadrupled. This discipline is often used as a punishment, but it may figure in the training of a new girl. It helps her to understand what she now is, an animal totally subject to her master.

*NESTLE *(blottir)

FR: Quand il est ordonné à un esclave de se mettre en position « nestle », de se blottir, elle se rapproche du Maître pour se mettre contre lui, et se lover dans le creux de son bras.

"Nestle," I told her. "Yes, Master," she said. She nestled obediently in the crook of my left arm.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"There are many ways to perform obeisance. "I said. "I am a free woman," she said, " I know none of them." "I shall instruct you briefly in three," I said. " First kneel before me , back on your heels, yes, with your knees wide, wider, your hands on your thighs, your back straight, your breasts out, good, your belly in, good, and now lower your head in deference, in submission." "Now that," I said, " may not be exactly a form of obeisance, for authorities do not all agree, but for our purposes we shall count it as one. It is, at any rate, a beautiful position, and it is, certainly, a common position of slave submission." "Now" I said, " and this is clearly a form of obeisance, bend forward and put your head to the mat, the palms of your hands on the mat. Good. Now lift your head little and come forward, substantially keeping the position. Forward a little more." "But then my face will be at your feet," she said," My lips will be over them!" "Yes," I said, "Good, now, put your head down and lick and kiss my feet." "I am a free Woman!" She Said. "You are a woman," I said," now softly lingeringly, and lovingly, Good." "I am not a slave," she said "All women are slaves, "I said " Imagine what this would be like if you were truly a collared slave." She gasped. "Now" I said, "for a third form of obeisance. You may belly to me." "I do not understand," she whispered. "There are various forms of bellying, " I said, and bellying may be suitably and pleasingly combined with other forms of floor movements, approaching the Master on all fours, turning to your sides and back, writhing before him, and so on. We will take a very simple variation, suitable for an ignorant free female who has not yet even begun to discover the depths of her sexuality." She looked up at me. "On your belly," I said. She backed off a bit , and went to her belly. her hair was before her face, as she now on her belly before me looked up at me. "Now inch forward," I said, " remaining low on your belly, and when you reach my feet, once again, as before, lifting your head a little, tenderly and humbly, and beautifully, as though you were a slave, lick and kiss them. Good. Good. Now take my foot and place it gently on your head. Very good. Now place it again on the Mat, and kiss it again. Good. You may now belly back a little, humbly. I have not yet given you permission to rise of course."

*SHE_SLEEN*

FR: Genou et coudes à terre, les mains croisées au dessus de la tête, les fesses en l’air, prête à être soit battue sur les fesses, soit à être prise par derrière comme un animal.

He knelt me there. "Put your head down, to the floor," he said. "Clasp your hands, firmly, behind the back of your neck." "Yes, Master," I moaned. He was then behind me. He put his hands, under my arms, on my breasts, sweetly and firmly. Then he moved his bands back, caressing my flanks. My head was down. My fingers were together, behind the back of my neck. I was in his collar. It was steel, I could not remove it. I belonged to him. My body hurt, from his whip, that of my master. My head hurt, from my hair, where I had been conducted, unceremoniously, to this location. "Please, Master," I sobbed. "Not like this! Not you, please!" "The slave is pretty," he remarked. "Oh!" I cried. "Oh!" "You have a lovely ass," he said. "Ohhh!" I said. "You may thank me," he said.
Kajira of Gor p434

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*SLAVE LIPS (lèvres de l’esclave)

FR: Se tourner vers la personne qui l’a ordonné, les lèvres pincées et rester immobile tant qu’un baiser n’a pas brisée cette immobilité.

This command would usually bring a smile to a girl's lips.  It indicates she is to turn towards her master and purse her lips for a kiss.  She may not move or break this position until released either verbally or with a kiss.

Similarly, I was not required to respond to certain sorts of commands, for example, to make "slave lips," pursing my lips for kissing, or to writhe slowly before my viewers.
Kajira of Gor p224

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*SLAVE RAPE* (viol d’esclave)

FR: On peut voir dans les livres qu’il y en a de plusieurs sortes, mais la principale est que la fille s’allonge immobile en attendant d’être violée

Used to remind a slave of her place and her purpose. In this position the master uses the slave for the sole purpose of his own relief, habitually violently and with little time wasted. From the name alone, this ritual is performed in various ways.

I went to the side of the room and picked up my sea bag. I threw it to the center of the room. She looked down at it puzzled. It was of heavy blue material, canvas, and tied with a white rope. "Lie down upon it," I told her, "on your back, your head to the floor." She did so. "No, please," she said, "not like this." It is a common position for a disciplinary slave rape. In it the woman feels very vulnerable, very helpless. I then took her.
Explorer's of Gor p202

---Kajira of Gor, p 434

"Turn about," he said. "Kneel down. Put your head to the ground, clasp your hands together, behind the back of your neck." "Yes, Master!" I wept. I hastened to obey. This is a common position for slave rape.
---Dancer of Gor, p 458

*STANDARD BINDING POSITION* (position standard de bondage)

La fille, une fois ordonnée de se mettre dans cette position, s’allonge sur le sol, les poignets croisés dans le dos et les chevilles croisées. (autre nom proche de BARA)

"Standard binding position," he said. I was prone. When a girl is prone, the standard binding position is to cross the wrists behind the back and to cross the ankles. I took this position instantaneously.
Slave Girl of Gor p125

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*SULA*

FR: S’allonger sur le dos par terre, écarter largement les pieds et les épaules et garder les bras paumes vers le haut, plier légèrement le genou gauche pour permettre la vue. Garder les yeux baissés et attendre l’inspection.

Commonly used in slave training as one of the three most basic positions, sula, is done by laying on her back, hands at her sides, palms up and feet apart.   Not very complicated.

"Sula, Kajira!" said the man. She slid her legs from under her and lay on her back, her hands at her sides, palms up, legs open.
Explorers of Gor p77

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*TOWER KNEEL *(à genou en « tour »)

The position of the Tower Slave, in which Vika knelt, differs from that of a free woman only in the position of the wrists which are held before her and, when not occupied, crossed as though for binding...The position of the Pleasure Slave, incidentally, differs from the position of both the free woman and the Tower Slave. The hands of a Pleasure Slave normally rest on her thighs but, in some cities, for example, Thentis, I believe, they are crossed behind her. More significantly, for the free woman's hands may also rest on her thighs, there is a difference in the placement of the knees. In all these kneeling positions, incidentally, even that of the Pleasure Slave, the Gorean woman carries herself well; her back is straight and her chin is high. She tends to be vital and beautiful to look upon."
Priest Kings of Gor pgs46_47

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WHIPPING POSITION (position du fouet)

FR: Se laisser rapidement tomber à genou, et placer le front sur le sol, les hanches redressées très haut, le dos courbé en exposition, croiser les bras sur le ventre et aggriper ses flans.

A position of punishment and discipline, the girl kneels, crosses her wrists beneath her, she lowers her head to the floor and exposes her back.

I went to Targo, trembling, and knelt at his feet... I crossed my wrists beneath me and touched my head to the floor, exposing the bow of my back. It is the submissive posture of a slave girl who is to be punished. It is called Kneeling to the Whip.
Captive of Gor p200

NOTE AU SUJET D’UNE COMMANDE NON VERBALE

Il est important que l’esclave garde en tête que les ordres ne sont pas toujours donnés verbalement.

He suddenly snapped his fingers and, in the swift double gesture of the Gorean Master, pointed to a place on the dirt floor before him, almost simultaneously turning his hand, spreading the first and index fingers, pointing downwards. I fled to him and knelt before him, my knees in the dirt, in the position of the pleasure slave, my head down, trembling.
Captive of Gor p143

Greetings Gorean,

I found interesting to bring some quotes around the very basics of Gor, some quotes that could seem evident, but when you look deeper to it, it shown that many did not have a clue about these littles things that could turn the life of a Gorean Free Woman into Hell situation.

I asked Lara, Kajira of Farnacium, to search and prepare a work a relevent note about Free Women clothings, here it is:

Thank you Lara.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know, I know... How do you tell which of the Free Women is the prettiest?  Why, in the name of the Preist Kings, do they wear those silly viels?  Is it some sort of fashion item?  Do they think it makes them look better?  Perhaps all the pretty girls are slaves?  No - this is not the case... Wearing the 'Robes of Concealment' is part of Gorean Culture.

QUOTE:

Gorean free women, at least in the high cities, almost always wear veils in public, although some women of the lower castes are occasionally careless in this particular, permitting lax arrangements, and such, especially the maidens. Too, some omit the veil altogether. Veils can be used, if handled and arranged in certain ways, for flirting, much as were fans, once on Earth, in less androgynous times. (Prize of Gor, Chapter 16, pages 392-393)

Veils are worn in various numbers and combinations by Gorean free women, this tending to vary by preference and caste. Many low-class Gorean women own only a single veil which must do for all purposes. The veil, it might be noted, is not legally imperative for a free woman; it is rather a matter of modesty and custom. Some low-class, uncompanioned, free girls do not wear veils. Similarly certain bold free women neglect the veil. Neglect of the veil is not a crime in Gorean cities, though in some it is deemed a brazen and scandalous omission.'
Slave Girl of Gor, pg 107

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is the punishment for a free woman to go about town unveiled?  Some of you may have heard the myth that it is enslavement, that she secretly wishes for her neck to be encased in steel and her wrists bound behind her.  But that is not the case.  Women without a veil have no modesty, it is true, but that in and of itself is not enough for them to be beaten, bound and enslaved.

QUOTES:

The veil, it might be noted, is not legally imperative for a free woman; it is rather a matter of modesty and custom. Some low-class, uncompanioned, free girls do not wear veils. Similarly certain bold free women neglect the veil. Neglect of the veil is not a crime in Gorean cities, though in some it is deemed a brazen and scandalous omission.
Slave Girl of Gor, p107

In the barbaric world of Gor, the Robes of Concealment are deemed necessary to protect the women from the binding fibres of roving tarnsmen.  Few warriors will risk their lives to capture a woman who may be as ugly as a tharlarion.  Better to steal slaves, where the guilt is less and the charms of the captive are more readily ascertainable in advance. (Tarnsman of Gor, chapter six, page 65)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The veil that Free Women wear is not a single item, but a collection of viels that slowly obscure the face.  Five, in total.  Each is thicker and heavier than the last.

QUOTE:

Eta, from behind me, pinned the first of five veils about my face. It was light, and shimmering, of white silk, almost transparent. Then, one after the other, she added the freedom veil, or veil of the citizeness, the pride veil, the house veil, and street veil. Each of these is heavier and more opaque than the one which lies within. the street veil, worn publicly, is extremely bulky, quite heavy and completely opaque; not even the lineaments of the nose and cheeks are discernible when it is worn; the house veil is worn indoors when there are those present who are not of the household, as in conversing with or entertaining associates of one's companion. Veils are worn in various numbers and combinations by Gorean free women, this tending to vary by preference and caste. Many low class Gorean women own only a single veil which must do for all purposes. Not all high-caste women wear a large number of veils. A free woman, publicly, will commonly wear, one or two veils; a frequent combination is the light veil, or last veil, and the house or street veil. Rich, vain women of high caste may wear ostentatiously as many as nine or ten veils. In certain cities, in connection with the free companionship, the betrothed or pledged beauty may wear eight veils, several of which are ritualistically removed during various phases of the ceremony of companionship; the final veils, and robes, of course, are removed in private by the male who, following their removal, arms interlocked with the girl, drinks with her the wine of the companionship, after which he completes the ceremony.
Slave girl of Gor, p106

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, Free Women might wear as many as five veils (some more vain women might wear as many as nine), but how do they drink?  That is rather a simple affair... They do not remove the veils, but simply use the left hand to lift their veils to allow the cup to their face.  Sometimes, the Free will drink THROUGH their veils, especially in public surrounded by strangers.

QUOTE:

"Free women, drinking, commonly lift their veil, or veils, with the left hand. Low-caste free women, if veiled, usually do the same. Sometimes, however, particularly if they are in public, they will drink through their veil, or veils. Sometimes, of course, free women will drink unveiled, even with guests. Much depends upon how well the individuals are known, and who is present. In their homes, of course, with only the members of their families present, or servants and slaves, most free women do not veil themselves, even those of high caste."
Fighting Slave of Gor, pg 276

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You went out of your house without your veil and now you are wondering why all the men were leering at you, and the Free Woman you saw called you a beast and a slut... Well, the simple fact is that you forgot to wear one of the most important items in a Free Woman's wardrobe.  Don't take it to heart, and don't make the same mistake too often, or else you might find yourself in the Kennels...

QUOTE:

It must be understood, of course, to fully appreciate what was going on, that the public exposure of the features of a freewoman, particularly one of high caste, or with some pretense to position or status, is a socially serious matter in many Gorean localities. Indeed, in some cities an unveiled free woman is susceptible to being taken into custody by guardsmen, then to be veiled, by force if necessary, and publicly conducted back to her home. Indeed, in some cities she is marched back to her home stripped, except for the face veil which has been put on her. In these cases a crowd usually follows, to see to what home it is that she is to be returned. Repeated offenses in such a city usually result in the enslavement of the female. Such serious measures, of course, are seldom required to protect such familiar Gorean proprieties. Custom, by itself, normally suffices.
~Players of Gor, page 124 &125~

An unveiled woman, for example, may find other women turning away from her in a market, perhaps with expressions of disgust. Indeed, she may not even be waited upon, or dealt with, in a market by a free woman unless she first kneels. It would not be unusual for her, in a crowded place, to overhear remarks, perhaps whispers or sneers, of which she is the obvious object, such as “Shameless slut,” “Brazen baggage,” “As immodest as a slave,” “I wonder who her master is,” and “Put a collar on her!” And if she should attempt to confront or challenge her assailants, she will merely find such remarks repeated articulately and clearly to her face.
Players of Gor Book 20 Page 124 - 125

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, as we have seen, the veil is a key peice of costume for any Free Woman.  How much more key is their leggings, skirts and other coverings that hide their legs!  The punishments for going about unveiled in public are light compared to the public forced enslavement and selling of a woman seem with bare legs...

Free Women, before you put on your skirts, check you have some coverings for you legs!

QUOTES:

Contrariwise, almost no free woman would bare her legs. They would not dare to do so. They would be horrified even to think of it. The scandal of such an act could ruin a reputation. It is said on Gor that any woman who bares her legs is a slave. Indeed, in some cities a free woman who might be found with bared legs is taken in hand by magistrates, tried and sentenced to bondage. After the judge’s decision has been enacted, its effect carried out upon her, reducing her to the status of goods, sometimes publicly, that she may be suitably disgraced, sometimes privately, by a contract slaver, that the sensitivities of free women in the city not be offended, she is hooded and transported, stripped and chained, freshly branded and collared, a property female, slave cargo, to a distant market where, once sold, she will begin her life anew, fearfully, as a purchased girl, tremulously as the helpless and lowly slave she now is.
Mercenaries of Gor Book 21 Page 69

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, so you have your veil, and your robes of concealment, and you are set.  You walk into the Inn and plonk on a cushion, and demand a Black wine from the poor, overworked, pretty girl there.  But there is a hushed disquiet in the room. The Head Merchant glares at you... You must have done something wrong, but what could it be?

Free Woman sit in a position called Tower, similar to that which the slaves adopt, except they do not cross their wrists... Sitting as the equal of a man can get you into serious trouble.

QUOTE:
"The position of the Tower Slave, in which Vika knelt, differs from that of a free woman only in the position of the wrists which are held before her and, when not occupied, crossed as though for binding. A free woman's wrists are never so placed."

What are the codes?
===============
There are no references to the codes explicitly claiming that a warrior would hold disdain or resistance to any professional mercenary armies and armed, organised criminals.  Albeit the codes are not set out in the books, references to the codes point to the righteous heart and conscience of the warrior.  The warrior must seek what is honourable within His own heart and not simply follow the laws of the land.
-------------------------

"What is it to be a warrior?   It is to keep the codes. Nothing else matters…"  "What are the codes?  They are nothing, and everything.  They are a bit of noise, and the steel of the heart. They are meaningless and all significant. They are the difference.  Without the codes men would be Kurii"  (Page 340 - Beasts of Gor)

"All wisdom and truth does not lie in the codes." (Page 14 - Outlaw of Gor)

"…`I once betrayed my codes,' I said. `It is not my intention to do so again.' I looked at her. `One does not know, truly what it is to stand, until one has fallen. Once one has fallen, then one knows, you see, what it is to stand.'   `None would know if you betrayed the codes,' she said.   `I would know,' I said, `and I am of the Warriors.' `What is it to be a warrior?' she asked. `It is to keep the codes,' I said".  (Page 340 - Beasts of Gor)

"What is invisible but more beautiful than diamonds?" "And the answer?" inquired Labenius. "That which is silent but deafens thunder." The men regarded one another. "And what is that?" asked Labenius. "The same," said I, "as that which depresses no scale but is weightier than gold." "And what is that?" asked Labenius. "Honor," I said."   (Page 304-305 - Vagabonds of Gor)

The Codes
===============
    ▪    Accept challenges quickly and don't back out.  Face the challenge like a Man.

    ▪    Once a challenge has successfully shed your blood, or vice versa, you become sword brothers, unless you in character role-play formally reject with disapproval or condemnation the blood on said weapon. Once a bond is shared by Warriors it shall overcome any city barrier.

    ▪    Warriors do not break their word.

    ▪    Warriors do not commit suicide.  The Home Stone is the battlefield.  The only death a warrior would accept is in battle.

    ▪    If you want another's slave, you must challenge, and subsequently, fight for her with the weapon of your opponents choice.

    ▪    Warriors have a common allegiance in their Home Stone. Its name is battle.

    ▪    "I had been so much a fool as to be sad. That is not the mood in which to enter battle, even the battle which one knows one cannot win, even the ultimate battle in which one knows is doomed to defeat. Do not be sad. Better to take the field with laughter, with a joke, with a light thought, with a buoyant thought, or to go forward with sternness, or in fury, or with hatred, or defiance, or calculation, but never with self pity, never with sadness. Never such things, never them!" (Vagabonds of Gor, p.446)

    ▪    Submission of a female to a warrior is acknowledged only when a women kneels, and lifts her hands up with wrists crossed, and submits to a warrior.  The choice of the warrior is to either accept or destroy the one submitting, yet, if he accepts her and she is in the least bit displeasing, she may be killed immediately.

    ▪    When a city or land is at war, the War Chief or Ubar is sought and sworn in, until He decides the crisis is over.  A warrior does not swear to an Ubar on a whim.  Sword loyalty is the bond of allegiance to an Ubar.  If the Ubar is deemed to be 'unfit to rule' then he may be 'removed' by his own warriors. When an Ubar can't be removed then He rules as a tyrant.

    ▪    A slave is a joy and a pleasure to the warrior. Using slaves is not only permitted, it is encouraged.

    ▪    By the codes, if a weapon is lifted against you, then, as a warrior, you are permitted to kill the offender (do not draw a weapon against a warrior unless you are prepared to die).

    ▪    Poison is treated as a woman's weapon.  Applying poison to the steel of a sword is against the codes.

    ▪    When a warrior disowns his kin, it is an irreversible action. With your hand on the hilt of your sword a warrior would not make this decision lightly.

CAMISK -

“The camisk is a rectangle of cloth, with a hole cut for the head, rather like a poncho.   The edges are commonly folded and stitched to prevent raveling.   Under Targo’s direction the girls happily cut and stitched their own camisks.  The camisk, I am told, normally falls to the knee, but Targo made us cut ours considerably shorter.  I made mine poorly.  I had never learned to sew.  Targo was not satisfied with its length, and he made me shorten it still more.  Mine was then no longer then Lana’s, or the other girls’!  But I remembered my beating.  I did not wish another.  I feared straps terribly.  And so I was dressed as they.  The camisk, I am told, was at one time commonly belted with a chain. However, most of the camisks that I have personally seen, and those we were given, were belted with black or brown binding fiber: sometimes, instead, a long, thin strap of leather, “binding leather”, is used.  a long, thin strap of leather binding fiber..Our camisks were brown, which is a common color.  Camisks may, however, be in a variety of colors, and the binding fiber, or leather, may be of matching or contrasting color.”   CAPTIVE OF GOR PAGES 62-63; Chapter 7

“The binding fiber, or leather, passes once around the body,  and then again, and then is tied, snugly, over the right hip.  When Targo inspected me, he made me tighten the belt, to accentuate my figure.  Already had learned, for the first time in my life, to stand straight.  I was cuffed,  or kicked, when I forgot.  Soon it was natural for me to do so.  The belt of binding fiber, or leather, not only makes it easier to adjust the camisk to a given girl, but, of course, it serves to remind her that she is in bondage.  In a moment it may be removed, and she may be secured with it, leashed, or bound hand and foot.  I wondered why Targo permitted us camisks.  I think there were probably two reasons.  The first is that the camisk, in its way, is an incredibly attractive garment.  It displays the girl, beautifully, provocatively.  Moreover, it proclaims her slave, and begs to be torn away by the hand of a master. Men thrill to see a girl in a camisk”. CAPTIVE OF GOR PAGES 63-64; Chapter 7

"One city in which the common camisk is favored, generally, is Tharna.  The men of Tharna, incidentally, commonly give their girls little to wear, even by Gorean standards, and tend to take profound satisfaction in their near nudity.  This is doubtless why they tend to favor the common camisk." GUARDSMAN OF GOR PAGE 104; Chapter 11

TURIAN CAMISK -

"The Turian camisk was also now occasionally seen.  It is rather like an inverted “T”, the bar of the "T" having beveled edges  It pass from the girl’s throat, in front of her body, between her legs, and is then lifted, pulled tight, and wrapped about the thighs.  Its single cord fastens the garment behind the girl’s neck, behind her back and then, after passing about her body once or twice, ties in the front.  It conceals her brand but exposes her back.  The cord makes it possible to adjust the garment to a given girl.  Tightening the cord accentuates her figure.  The Turian camisk is worn tightly.  Turians are barbarians.  In private pens in Ko-ro-ba, where we were taken daily for training, we were taught to wear the garment.  A master might require it of us.  It is said that only a man knows how to tie a Turian camisk on a girl properly.  There are many such sayings on Gor.”  CAPTIVE OF GOR PAGE 163; Chapter 11

"The Turian camisk, on the other hand, if it were to be laid out on the floor, would appear somewhat like an inverted "T" in which the bar of the "T" would be beveled on each side.  It is fastened on the girl at three points, behind the neck, behind the back, and in front, at the waist. The Turian camisk, unlike the common camisk, will cover a girl’s brand; on the other hand, unlike a common camisk, it leaves the back uncovered and can be tied, and is, snugly, the better to disclose the girl's beauty  In donning the camisk the girl will tie the camisk behind the back of her neck; the rather vertical bar then falls before her, and she will then pull it to the sides, and tie it behind her back, this providing some shielding, though not much, for the beauty of her bosom; the farther part of the bar, falling before her, is then drawn back between her legs and drawn up in back, snugly, this providing a nether shielding, unusual in a garment permitted slaves; the two beveled edges are then brought forward and wrapped about the hips; the garment is then tied before the girl, snugly, at the waist, a location from which the tie, ready to the hand of a master, may be conveniently undone, enabling the cloth to be easily torn away, pulled loose, brushed aside, such things.  Indeed, the cloth, once loosened, may, if one wishes, be taken up and used as a slave hood, held in place by cords, secured about the girl’s neck."  NOMADS OF GOR PAGES 92-93; Chapter 9

CHALWAR -

“She was white, dark-haired.  She wore a high, tight vest of red silk, with four hooks; her midriff was bare; she wore the sashed chalwar, a sashed, diaphanous trousered garment, full but gathered in, closely, at the ankles; she was barefoot; her wrists and ankles were bangled; she was veiled; she was collared.”  TRIBESMEN OF GOR PAGE 114; Chapter 5

“Her eyes were angry, over her veil.  Her bare midriff, long, between the high, hooked vest of red silk and the low-slung, sashed chalwar, about her hips, some inches below her navel, was quite attractive.  To see her was to want her; and to want her was to wish to own her.”  TRIBESMEN OF GOR PAGE 119; Chapter 5

CLAD KAJIR -

“Among the Wagon Peoples, to be clad Kajir means, for a girl, to wear four articles, two red, two black; a red cord, the Curla, is tied about the waist; the Chatka, or long , narrow strip of black leather, fits over the cord in front, passes under, and then again, from the inside, passes over the cord in back; the Chatka is drawn tight; the Kalmak is then donned; it is a short, open, sleeveless vest of black leather; lastly the Koora, a strip of red cloth, matching the Curla, is wound about the head, to hold the hair back, for slave women, among the Wagon Peoples, are not permitted to braid, or otherwise dress their hair; it must be, save for the Koora, worn loose.”   NOMADS OF GOR PAGES 29-30; Chapter 5

KES -

“For a male slave, or Kajirus, of the Wagon Peoples, and there are few, save for the work chains, to be clad Kajir means to wear the Kes, a short, sleeveless work tunic of black leather.”   NOMADS OF GOR PAGES 30; Chapter 5

SLAVE SILKS -

"There are a large number of ways in which slave silk is worn. It can be worn, for example, on the shoulder or off the shoulder, with high necklines or plunging necklines, in open or closed garments, tightly or flowing, and in various lengths. Sometimes it is put on the girl only in halters and G-strings, or mere G-strings. Sometimes it is done, too, in strips wound about her body. The tying of slave girdles, with such silk, and otherwise, to emphasize the girl's figure and make clear her bondage, is an art in itself. Often, too, and as usually in paga taverns, it is worn in brief tunics. Most of these are partable or wraparound tunics. Such may be removed gracefully. Some tunics, however, like some regular slave tunics, have a disrobing loop, usually at the left shoulder, where it may easily be reached by both a right-handed master and a right handed slave. A tug on the disrobing loop drops the tunic to the girl's ankles, also gracefully."  DANCER OF GOR PAGES 225; Chapter 13

“In most paga taverns, of course, the girls are silked. Usually it is only in the meanest, the cheapest and lowest of taverns that the girls serve naked, much as would the females of a conquered city at the victory feast of their conquerors, now, or soon to be, their masters. Slave silk, and certainly that sort which is commonly worn in paga taverns and upon occasion in brothels, when the girls are permitted clothing there, is generally diaphanous. It leaves little doubt as to the beauty of the slave. Some girls claim they would rather be naked, claiming that such silk makes them "more naked than naked," but most girls, and I think, even those, too, who speak in such a way, are grateful for even the wisp of gossamer shielding it provides against the imperious appraisals of masters, even though it must be pulled away or discarded instantly at a man’s whim. Too, I think most girls know that they are very beautiful in such silk, and this, I suspect, is why they love it, and treasure it." DANCER OF GOR PAGES 224-225; Chapter 13

“I had scrambled on my knees for the coins flung to the floor, seizing them, thrusting them hastily, so many of them, with one hand, into the lifted, bunched portion, held by my other hand, of the dancing skirt, a lovely, swirling skirt, scarlet, open on the right, of diaphanous dancing (pg. 223) silk. I had been permitted a scarlet halter of the same material. My midriff, like my right thigh, was bared. The skirt was low on my hips. I wore a double belt of threaded, jangling coins, one strand high, one low, as with the corded belt of metal pieces I had worn in my virgin dance, weeks ago. I also wore a triple necklace of coins, together with necklaces of slave beads, of both glass and wood. These coins, all of them, would be counted by Mirus when I disrobed. On my left ankle were bound slave bells. My right ankle wore several anklets. I was barefoot. On my wrists were bracelets. On my upper left arm was a coiled armlet. A ruby, held by a chain, was at my forehead. Wound in and about my hair were strands of pearls.” DANCER OF GOR PAGES 223-224; Chapter 13

HAIK -

"Following him, in a black haik, was a woman   Suddenly I was startled.  As she passed me, her stride small and measured, I head the clink of light chain, the sound of ankle bells.  She was a slave.  She turned her head, briefly, to look at me; I saw her eyes, dark, through the tiny opening in the haik, through the tiny, black-laced screen, about an inch in height and four inches in width.  Then, with a rustle of the chain, and the tiny music of her bells, she turned swiftly, following her master.  Beneath the haik, I supposed her collared, naked."   TRIBESMEN OF GOR PAGE 43; Chapter 2

SIRIK -

“Then, when I was absolutely naked, a golden collar, to which a chain was attached, with wrist rings and ankle rings, was brought. It was a chaining system of that sort called a sirik. My chin was thrust up and I felt the golden collar locked about my throat. Almost as the same time my wrists, held closely together before me, were locked helplessly in the wrist rings. In another instant, my ankles, held, were helplessly in the ankle rings. A chain then ran from my collar to the chain on my wrist rings and from thence, the same chain, to the chain on my ankle rings. My ankle rings chain was about twelve inches in length, and my wrist chain was about six inches in length. The central chain, where it dangled down from the wrist rings, lay on the floor before the throne, before it looped up to where it was closed about the central link of the ankle ring chain.”  KAJIRA OF GOR PAGES 185-186; Chapter x

“….both girls wore the Sirik, a light chain favored for female slaves by many Gorean masters; it consists of a Turian-type collar, a loose, rounded circle of steel, to which a light, gleaming chain is attached; should the girl stand, the chain, dangling from her collar, falls to the floor; it is about ten or twelve inches longer than is required to reach from her collar to her ankles; to this chain, at the natural fall of her wrists, is attached a pair of slave bracelets; at the end of the chain there is attached another device, a set of linked ankle rings, which, when closed about her ankles, lifts a portion of the slack chain from the floor; the Sirik is an incredibly graceful thing and designed to enhance the beauty of its wearer; perhaps it should only be added that the slave bracelets and the ankle rings may be removed from the chain and used separately; this also, of course, permits the Sirik to function as a slave leash."  NOMADS OF GOR PAGES 43; Chapter 7

TA-TEERA -

“Eta pulled at the bit of rag she wore. "Ta-Teera," she said. I looked down at the scrap of rag, outrageously brief, so scandalous, so shameful, fit only for a slave girl, which I wore. I smiled. I had been placed in a Ta-Teera.”  SLAVE GIRL OF GOR PAGE 81; Chapter 4

"It was with joy, later in the morning, that I felt, thrown against my body by my master, a bit of brown cloth. It was a few threads, fit for a bond girl...Joyfully I drew on the garment, slipping it over my head, and fastened it, more tightly about me by the two tiny hooks on the left. The slit made the garment a rather snug one, easier to slip into; the two hooks, when fastened, naturally increased the snugness of the garment, drawing it quite closely about the breasts and hips, deliciously then, from the point of view of a man, the girl's figure is betrayed and accentuated; also the two hooks do not close the slit on the left completely, but permit men to gaze upon the sweet slave flesh pent, held captive within."  SLAVE GIRL OF GOR PAGES 75-76; Chapter 4

"One of the most exciting slave garments, if the slave is permitted clothing, is the Ta-Terra, or, as it is sometimes called, the slave rag. This is analogous to the tunic, but it is little more, and intentionally so, than a rag or rags. In it the girl, as you might well suppose, is again in no doubt as to whether or not she is a slave. Some cities do not wish girls in Ta-Teeras to be seen publically on the streets. Perhaps that, better than a few words, suggests the nature of the Ta-Teera.  Some masters put their girls in such garments only when they are camping, or in the wilds. Others, of course, may prescribe the Ta-Teera for their girls when they are within their own compartments."  GUARDSMAN OF GOR PAGE 105; Chapter 11

KIRTLE -

"A flock of verr, herded by a maid with a stick, turned, bleating on the sloping hillside. She shaded her eyes. She was blond; she was barefoot; she wore an ankle-length white kirtle, of white wool, sleeveless, split to her belly.  About her neck I could see a dark ring."  MARAUDERS OF GOR PAGES 85; Chapter 6

RED HUNTER SLAVE DRESS -

"From the furs and hides among the spoils at the wall they had cut and sewn for themselves stockings of lart skin, and shirts of hide, and a light and heavy parka, each hooded and rimmed with lart fur.  Too, they had made the high fur boots of the northern woman and the brief panties of fur, to which the boots, extending to the crotch, reach.  On the hide shirts and parkas he had made them sew a looped design of stitching at the left shoulder, which represented binding fiber.  This designated the garments as those of beasts.  A similar design appeared on each of the other garments.  About their throats now, too, they wore again four looped strings, each differently knotted, by means of which a red hunter might, upon inspection, determine that their owner was Imnak."  BEASTS OF GOR PAGE 199; Chapter 11

RED SAVAGE SLAVE DRESS -

"About her throat, narrow, sturdy and closely fitting, was a steel collar.  I stepped back, that I might see her better.  She wore a short, fringed, beaded shirtdress.  This came up high on her thighs.  It was split to her waist, revealing the sweetness and loveliness of her breasts.  It was belted upon her with a doubly looped, tightly knotted rawhide string.  Such a string is more than sufficient, in its length, and in the strength and toughness, to tie a woman a number of ways.  She was barefoot.  About her left ankle there was, about two inches high, a beaded cuff, or anklet.  Her garb was doubtless intended to suggest the distinctive, humiliating and scandalously brief garment in which red savages are sometimes pleased to place their white slaves.  One difference, however, must be noted.  The red savages do not use steel collars.  They usually use high, beaded collars, tied together in the front by a rawhide string. "   SAVAGES OF GOR PAGE 98; Chapter 7

“Her costume, like that of Ginger, the short, fringed, beaded shirtdress of tanned skin, with the beaded anklet, intended to resemble the garb in which red masters sometimes saw fit to clothe their white female slaves, if permitting them clothing, suggested its heritage of other times and other places.” SAVAGES OF GOR PAGE 111; Chapter 8

THRALL TUNIC -

“Men in the fields wore short tunics of white wool; some carried hoes; their hair was close cropped; about their throats had been hammered bands of black iron, with a welded ring attached.  They did not leave the fields; such a departure, without permission, might mean their death; they were thralls.”  MARAUDERS OF GOR PAGE 86; Chapter 6

TUNIC -

"I wore a brief, one-piece brown work tunic. It was all I wore, with the exception of the collar. We wore such tunics when engaged as work slaves.  The tunics of work slaves are usually brown or gray." SLAVE GIRL OF GOR PAGE 265; Chapter 12

"The most common Gorean garment for a slave is a brief slave tunic. This tunic is invariably sleeveless and,  usually, has a deep, plunging neckline. It may be of a great variety of materials, from rich satins and silks to thin, form-revealing, clinging rep-cloth.” GUARDSMAN OF GOR PAGE 103; Chapter 11

HUNTERS CATCH -

"A girl may be “set off”, of course, and beautifully, even if, technically, she is not clothed.  She may be garbed, for example, in netting, as the “Hunters Catch”; or she may be bedecked in jewels and leather, and shimmering chains, dancing under a whip in a tavern in Port Kar; or she may have flowers intertwined in her chains, as when she is awarded to a victor in public games in Ar.” GUARDSMAN OF GOR PAGES 105-106; Chapter 11

SLAVE DJELLABA -

“At a watering hole, from a nomad, I purchased Alyena a brief second-hand, black-and-white-striped, rep- cloth slave djellaba. It came high on her thighs.  This was that she would have something in which to sleep.  She was permitted to wear it only to sleep.”  TRIBESMEN OF GOR PAGE 73; Chapter 4

KAJIRA TALMIT -

"I looked up at Ute. “You wear the Kajira talmit,” I said.  “The first girl of the work slaves,” said Ute, “had been sold shortly before my capture.  There had been dissensions, factions, among the girls, each wanting one of their own party to be first girl.  I was new.  I had no allegiances.  Rask of Treve, by his will, and because, for some reason, he trusted me, set me above them all.” CAPTIVE OF GOR PAGE 306; Chapter 15

Greetings Gorean,

Often we find around SL gor people heading to the local Inn to get served their "Daily" Black Wine....

I felt the need to place here a work i have been asking to Lara, which is Lady McMasters's slave girl.

Lady McMasters is forming Kajirae beggining in Gor, from white silk statut to Red silk one via a complete training.

Here is one of Lara's work, one of most interest for Gorean people seeking to keep it Realistic.

***BLACK WINE IN GOR***

-What is Black Wine?  Simply put, Black Wine is coffee, brewed increadibly strong, and native to Gor.

QUOTE:

"I had heard of black wine, but had never had any. It is drunk in Thentis, but I had never heard of it being much drunk in other Gorean cities. (...) Then I picked up one of the thick, heavy clay bowls. It was extremely strong, and bitter, but it was hot, and, unmistakably, it was coffee."
"Assassins of Gor" page 106

-Black wine is not a popular crop.  Infact, it is rare and pricey.  Usually, the drink itself costs more than the girls serving it...

QUOTE:

"Actually," I said to Elizabeth, "this is very rare. Thentis does not trade the beans for black wine. I have heard of a cup of black wine in Ar, some years ago, selling for a silver eighty-piece. Even in Thentis black wine is used commonly only in High Caste homes."
"Assassin of Gor" page 106

-Thentis, the mountainous home of Black Beans, does not allow just anyone to enter and take them.  It guards its crop with the most vicious of beasts, the Sleen!

QUOTE:

in Thentis sleen are used to smell out contraband, to deter those who try to smuggle out the beans used for make black wine.
Luther Scrolls, scroll 87, Uses of Sleen

Aside from these common uses, sleen are put to other uses, too. In Thentis, for example, sleen are used to smell out contraband, in the form of the unauthorized egress of the beans for black wine from the Thentian territories.
Slave Girl,  p360

-Black Wine is such a delicacy that its preperation and service have evolved to have their own practices.  Black Wine is served in two fashions, called First or Second slave.  Second slave is simply a girl pouring the drink and serving it black, with no cream or sugars.

QUOTE:

"The two slaves, their chains removed, now returned, and began to serve the black wine. The voluptuous slave of Aemilianus, whom he had not yet named, placed the tiny silver cups, on small stands, before us. The lovely little slave in bluish gauze, whom I had not yet named, holding the narrow-spouted, silver pouring vessel in a heavy cloth, to retain its heat and protect her hands, poured the scalding, steaming black fluid, in narrow, tiny streams, into the small cups. She poured into the cups only the amount that would be compatible with the assorted sugars and creams which the guest might desire, if any, these being added in, and stirred, if, and as, pertinent, by Aemilianus' slave, who directed the serving. ... 'Second slave,' I told her, which, among the river towns, and in certain cities, particularly in the north, is a way of indicating that I would take the black wine without creams or sugars, and as it came from the pouring vessel, which, of course, in these areas, is handled by the 'second slave,' the first slave being the girl who puts down the cups, takes the orders and sees that the beverage is prepared according to the preferences of the one who is being served. ... She was extremely careful not to spill a drop. Black wine, except in the vicinity of Thentis, where most of it is grown on the slopes of the Thentis range, is quite expensive. Also, of course, clumsy slave girls are often whipped. The expression 'second slave,' incidentally, serves to indicate that one does not wish creams or sugars with one's black wine, even if only one girl is serving." --Guardsman of Gor, pages 244-245

-Second slave, as we saw yesterday, is a service of pouring and carrying.  In a First slave serve, there is a precise mixing and stiring as well.  Sugar lumps of white and yellow, and Bosk cream (not milk) are added to the Black Wine to suit the Free's taste.  Because Black Wine is so expensive, the practice of using an experienced girl to do the mixing kept the number of punishments and thrashings down to a minimum.

QUOTE:

"'Yes, Mistress,' I said. I took the vessel of black wine, removing it from its warmer, and put it on its tray, that already bearing the tiny cups, the creams and sugars, the spices, the napkins and spoons. I then carried the tray, with the black wine, hot and steaming, to the table and put it down there. Susan then, as 'first slave,' took the orders and did the measuring and mixing; I, as 'second slave,' did the pouring. Afterwards I returned the tray to the serving table, and the vessel of black wine to its warmer. I then joined Susan, kneeling beside her in the vicinity of the serving table." --Kajira of Gor, page 462

-Black Wine is served differently in different places, and to the differing tastes of the Free.  Sometimes small cups of silver or enamalled pottery are used.  Sometimes tankards or bowls are used.

QUOTES:

She poured, carefully, the hot, black beverage into the tiny red cup. ... ---Tribesman of Gor, page 105

I, grasping the pot with a rag and both hands, poured him a handled, metal tankard of the steaming black brew, coffee or black wine." --Slave Girl of Gor, page 77

'Black wine,' said she, 'from the Mountains of Thentis.' I had heard of black wine, but had never had any. It is drunk in Thentis, but I had never heard of it being much drunk in any of the other cities."
'Bring two bowls,' I said. ----Assassin of Gor, page 106

-From whence did Black Wine come from, in a wider sense than from Thentis?  Was it a plant originally from Earth and transplanted to Gor, or vice versa?  Such a cunundrum might not be an issue for the natives of Gor, but several 'Barbarians' have asked themselves this question.  Of course, the wider implications of the answer might very well be troubling...

QUOTE:

"The air was fresh and beautiful. Soon I smelled the frying of vulo eggs in a large, flat pan, and the unmistakable odor of coffee, or as the Goreans express it, black wine. The beans grow largely on the slopes of the Thentis mountains. The original beans, I suppose, had been brought, like certain other Gorean products, from Earth; it is not impossible, of course, that the opposite is the case, that black wine is native to Gor and that the origin of Earth's coffee beans is Gorean; I regard this as unlikely, however, because black wine is far more common on Earth than on Gor, where it is, except for the city of Thentis, a city famed for her tarn flocks, and her surrounding villages, a somewhat rare and unusual luxury." --Slave Girl of Gor, page 76

~Caste System~
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gorean society is based upon "caste" systems. Simular to the class system on Earth; i.e., social systems. Each profession or occupation seems to have its own structure, and its place in Gorean society. They have their own social gatherings and functions, keeping it elete to the cause. One may raise or lower theirselves according to ability and aptitude.

Many of the larger castes of Gor have their own unique colors. The colors are displayed by many of the castes, to show their place in society; the caste in which they belong.

Each caste maintains a belief system, and follows the "codes" by which they believe in.

Gorean castes are divided into two categories, High castes and Low castes.

Caste of Initiates: (WHITE) First of the High Castes. The supposed representatives of the Priest-Kings in Gorean society. They are responsible for guiding the spiritual life of Goreans through their rituals and prayers to the Priest-Kings. Some are rumored to have the ability to call down the wrath of the Priest Kings, or the dreaded "Flame Death," upon those who commit blasphemous acts or who conspire against the Priest Kings. They are recognized by their white robes, their shaven heads and faces, and their refusal to eat meat or imbibe alcohol. They are also required by their caste codes to be celibate. They tend to be learned and well-read, although they are feared and often distrusted by those of the lower castes.

Caste of Scribes: Second of the High Castes. They are the scholars of Gorean society, the writers and the historians. In their keeping is almost all of the accounting, record-keeping, and writing upon Gor. They tend to be serious and studious, with an attention to detail and a passion for knowledge. Sub-classes of this caste include the caste of Mapmakers (explorers), the caste of Magistrates and the caste of Litigates.

Caste of Builders: Third of the High Castes. This caste includes architects, engineers, draftsmen, stonemasons, and many other professions which concern themselves with the creation of the physical and engineering marvels of Gor. Also among the caste of Builders are the inventors and technicians who develop such works.

Caste of Physicians: Fourth of the High Castes. This is the caste of those who concern themselves with the healing arts. Surgeons, apothecaries, medical researchers and health practitioners are all members of this caste. Universally recognized as non-combatants during time of war.

Caste of Warriors: Fifth and lowest of the High Castes. This caste includes infantry, tharlarion cavalry, and tarnsmen. They are known to have one of the strictest sets of caste codes in use on Gor. Members of this caste comprise the military branch of Gorean government.

Low Castes

Caste of Animal Handlers: A large caste category which contains many specific sub-castes, all concerned with the use and care of domestic animals in use upon Gor.

The Caste of Artisans: This is a very broad caste which includes hundreds of sub-castes. Since any production of hand-made goods, no matter its use, is considered by the typical Gorean to be a work of art, this caste is very broad indeed.

Caste of Assassins:  This caste is comprised of those who kill strictly for pay; once evident throughout Gor, their existence has long been suppressed, though they still appear occasionally. They refuse to use poison to dispatch their enemies (they consider it the mark of an amateur) and are required by their caste codes to renounce all ties of friendship and family. In addition, they claim no Home Stone. Almost universally despised and feared by other castes. Their caste color is Black.

Caste of Bakers: Another very broad caste, which consists of hundreds of sub-castes. Generally, those who are members of this caste are those who prepare sa-tarna, or vegetarian food, in any of a hundred thousand forms.

Caste of Butchers: This caste, in conjunction with the caste of Bakers, is responsible for maintaining the majority of the Gorean industries involved with food service. This caste and its many sub-castes concern themselves with the acquisition and preparation of sa-Tassna, all forms of edible Gorean meat.

Caste of Charcoal Makers: This caste concerns itself with the production of charcoal for use in Gorean forges and ovens. Caste colors: Black and Grey.

Caste of Clothiers: A sub-caste of the Caste of Weavers, which produces articles of Gorean clothing.

Caste of Dress Makers: A sub-caste of the caste of Clothiers which produces female garmenture.

Caste of Drovers: A sub-caste of the caste of Animal Handlers. This caste concerns itself with the care and feeding of the various draft animals in use upon Gor, as well as the task of using wagons drawn by such creatures to ship goods from city to city.

Caste of Entertainers: A large caste category which contains many specific sub-castes, all concerned with providing entertainment to other members of Gorean society.

Caste of Fishermen: A sub-caste of the caste of Sailors, they are concerned with harvesting the vast variety of Gorean aquatic life for human consumption. There are additional sub-castes of this caste, including the Castes of River Fishermen and the caste of Thassa Fishermen. The caste of Net Makers, an artisan caste, is often considered a sub-caste of the caste of Fishermen.

Caste of Goat-Keepers: A sub-caste of the caste of Animal Handlers, this caste concerns itself with the care and maintenance of herds of Goats and other animals such as the woolly Gorean hurt.

Caste of Lamplighters: A sub-caste of the caste of Municipal Servants. This caste concerns itself with lighting the tharlarion oil lamps used to provide illumination to the city streets.

Caste of Leather Workers: A sub-caste of the caste of Artisans. Concerned with the fabrication of various leather goods from animal hides of all types.

Caste of Merchants:  This is a very broad caste, and contains literally hundreds of sub-castes. Those who are of this caste are concerned with the sell and trade of merchandise for a profit. There are almost as many sub-castes of the Merchant caste as there are products to be sold; a few notable ones include the caste of Slavers and the caste of Spice Merchants. The caste colors of the caste of Merchants are White and Gold.

Caste of Metal Workers: A sub-caste of the caste of Artisans. They are concerned with the production of most metal items fabricated upon Gor. Sub-castes of this caste include the caste of Swordmakers and the caste of Armorers, who produce the various shields and helmets in use upon Gor. Additionally, there seems to be a wide-spread sub-caste of the caste of Metal Workers which serves in a similar capacity to a blacksmith or farrier, repairing wagon wheels and shoeing Gorean draft and riding beasts. Their caste color is Gray.

Caste of Moneylenders: An additional sub-caste of the Merchants; these are those who engage in the trade and speculation of money for a profit, and the only product they handle is money. They are the bankers of Gor.

Caste of Musicians: A sub-caste of the caste of Entertainers. Often working in conjunction with the caste of Singers, this caste concerns itself with providing and performing instrumental musical works, as well as accompaniment for those of the
caste of Singers.

Caste of Oil Makers: This caste concerns itself with the production of various types of oil, used for purposes of lubrication and as a burnable fuel source.

Caste of Peasants: The lowest and most common of the castes of Gor, which is concerned with the maintenance, planting and harvesting of the vast lands surrounding most cities which have been divided into plots and set aside for agricultural use. These are the free farmers of Gor; although a Low caste they refer to themselves as "the Ox on Which the Home Stone Rests" due to their vital role in the production of raw foodstuffs for Gorean society. They have rather strict caste codes, and are considered the masters of several forms of distinctive peasant weaponry, including the quarterstaff and the Great Bow, or "Peasant Bow." Their caste color is Brown.

Caste of Perfumers: This caste concerns itself with the production of various types of scented perfumes, used for purposes of esthetic appeal. Often works in conjunction with the caste of Oil Makers to produce scented oils and such. Also works with the caste of Charcoal Makers and the caste of Spice
Merchants to create incense.

Caste of Players : This caste is made of of those who have dedicated their lives to the furtherance of the Gorean game of Kaissa. A rare caste, but one which is found and supported in almost any city. A sub-caste of the caste of Artisans, due to the fact that most Goreans consider the playing of Kaissa to be an art form. Members of this caste are granted blanket immunity to prosecution and slavery, and are highly regarded based upon their level of skill. They wear distinctive hooded robes in their caste colors. Caste colors: Checkered, Red and Yellow.

Caste of Poets: Oddly enough, considered to be a sub-caste not of the Entertainers, but of the caste of Artisans. This is probably because Goreans view the creation of a poem to be no different from the fabrication of any other, physical, work of art. Caste colors are Aqua and Red.

Caste of Pot Makers: A sub-caste of the caste of Artisans. They are involved in the production of containment vessels. Their caste colors are Brown and Green.

Caste of Rence-Growers: A slightly higher caste than the caste of Peasants, this is the caste of those who dwell in the various marshes and swamps of Gor, and who harvest Rence (a Gorean plant similar to Earth rice). They reside on great floating man-made islands amidst the marshes and are highly territorial and secretive. Known for their adoption and usage of the "Peasant Bow" in combat.

Caste of Ropemakers: A sub-caste of the caste of Artisans. Produces rope, binding fiber, thread and cordage of all types.

Caste of Saddle Makers: A sub-caste of the caste of Artisans. They produce the saddlery, harness and tack used to manage all of the various riding and draft beasts of Gor. Their caste color is Tan.

Caste of Sailors: This caste includes several dozen sub-castes, each with its own specialty. There is a sub-caste of the caste of Sailors known as the caste of Bargemen, those who propel and steer the great river barges upon the freshwater waterways of Gor.

Caste of Singers:  A sub-caste of the caste of Entertainers. Often working in conjunction with the caste of Poets, this caste concerns itself with the performance of verbal entertainment's set to music. Colors: Aqua and Red.

Caste of Slavers:  the sub-caste of the Merchants, one who deals in human merchandise; their caste colors are Blue and Yellow.

Caste of Sleen Trainers: A sub-caste of the caste of Animal Handlers, this caste concerns itself with the care, feeding and training of the Gorean Sleen, the six-legged furred hunting reptile of Gor.

Caste of Tarn Keepers:  A sub-caste of the caste of Animal Handlers. This caste concerns itself with the care, feeding and training of the Gorean tarn, the fierce winged saddle-bird of Gor. Caste colors: Grey and Green.

Caste of Thieves: This caste is comprised of those who make their living by stealing, robbery, picking pockets, etc.; the caste of Thieves is exclusive to the city of Port Kar. They have no recognizable caste colors, but can be identified by a tiny, three-pronged black tattoo on their cheekbone, which is their caste marking

Caste of Torturers, clan of Torturers (Wagon Peoples): Not a common Gorean caste, found only among the Wagon People of the far south. Considered to be a sub-caste of the caste of Artisans. One must therefore suppose that those of the Wagon Peoples consider the application of Torture to be an art form. Their caste colors are Black and Red.

Caste of Vart Trainers: This caste, a sub-caste of the caste of Animal Handlers, is exclusive to the island Ubarate of Tyros. Members of this caste concern themselves with the care, feeding and training of the Gorean vart, a bat-like creature in use upon Tyros, often trained and used as a weapon.

Caste of Waste Collectors: A sub-caste of the caste of Municipal Servants. This caste concerns itself with the management of collecting the assorted garbage and waste by-products stored in local waste bins and, in conjunction with the caste of Drovers, seeing that it is properly disposed of in carnariums (waste pits) located beyond the city limits.

Caste of Weavers: A sub-caste of the caste of Artisans. Concerned with the professional production of textiles for the garment industry.

Caste of Winemakers: This caste concern itself the professional production of most fruit based Gorean alcohol. Caste of Brewers: This caste concerns itself with the production of most grain based Gorean alcohol.

Caste of Wood Carriers: [Quotes bout Carriers of Wood] A sub-caste of the caste of Woodsmen, this caste concerns itself with the harvesting and transportation of the trees of the Gorean forests and tree farms.

Caste of Woodsmen: A large caste category which contains many specific sub-castes, all concerned with protecting and managing the vast resources of various Gorean forests claimed by a particular city or village. They are experts in various forms of woodcraft and are the forest hunters, forest marshals, and forest trackers of Gor. Caste Colors: Brown and Black.

Municipal Servants: A large caste category which contains many specific sub-castes, all concerned with providing various public services to the inhabitants of a particular city or village. Their caste color is Gray.

Guardsmen: A sub-caste of the caste of Municipal Servants. This caste is responsible for patrolling the city or village streets, arresting those who violate local ordinances and laws, and insuring the general well-being of the citizenry. They are the Gorean equivalent of a police force. They have no caste colors, and typically wear uniforms provided them by the city or village in which they work, in that settlement's traditional colors. The guardsmen of Ar, for instance, wear Red and Gold, while those of Cos traditionally wear Blue, and Turian guardsmen wear Yellow.

This next section, contains some of the castes with book quotes:
